WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jim Risch and Mike Crapo, prominent figures in the Senate, have expressed their views following the Senate's approval of a national security supplemental package.

Senator Risch emphasized the importance of safeguarding American security, stating, “Our first obligation as Congress is the safety and security of America.” He highlighted the significance of supporting allies in countering threats posed by expanding military capabilities of adversaries and regional instability in key regions. Senator Risch also expressed gratitude for the inclusion of his REPO Act in the package, which aims to repurpose seized Russian sovereign funds to aid Ukraine and hold Russia accountable for its actions. Additionally, he underscored the necessity of supporting Taiwan and allies in the Pacific to address the growing threat from China.

Senator Crapo echoed a similar sentiment, noting that the legislation takes a strong stance against adversaries like Russia, China, and Iran. He pointed out the importance of the package's provisions, including support for Israel and measures to combat the fentanyl epidemic. Senator Crapo also highlighted the legislation's sanctions targeting entities involved in processing Iranian oil and empowering the executive branch to assist Ukraine with frozen Russian assets.

The supplemental package, which addresses critical national security concerns, received bipartisan support and includes measures to enhance America's security while supporting key allies. Both senators emphasized the importance of these initiatives in protecting U.S. interests and promoting stability in the face of global challenges.
