Boise State’s Avery Allen and Keira Demirjian were named the Big 12 Pair of the Week on Mar. 24, according to an announcement from the conference.
This recognition is notable as it marks the first time a duo from Boise State has received pair of the week honors since joining the Big 12. The achievement highlights their recent performance at the Death Volley Invitational, where they finished with a perfect record.
Allen and Demirjian won all four matches over the weekend, including three victories against ranked teams. Each win was secured in straight sets. Their weekend began with a close victory over No. 9 California’s Gia Fisher and Ava Haughy, followed by a win against Georgia State’s Kealy Dirner and Ella Mozeleski.
The pair also contributed significantly during Boise State’s match against No. 6 Florida State by earning a point after defeating Kyleene Filimaua and Jess Horwath. They closed out their undefeated run with another win over LSU’s Camryn Chatellier and Aubrey O’Gorman, securing Boise State’s only point in that dual.
Since being paired together two weekends ago at the Carolina Challenge in the No. 3 position, Allen and Demirjian have improved to a season record of seven wins and one loss. This is Allen’s second career pair of the week award; she previously earned Southland Conference honors last year alongside Abbie Wolf during Boise State’s conference championship run. For Demirjian, this is her first such recognition.
Looking ahead, Boise State will participate in its first Big 12 event at this weekend’s Big 12 Preview hosted by TCU, where they are scheduled to compete in four duals over two days.
