Boise State’s women’s beach volleyball team is set to begin its 2026 season at the Beach Burrow Bash in Boca Raton, Florida. The two-day event starts on Friday, February 20, and will feature four matches for the Broncos.
The team’s schedule includes matchups against strong opponents. Three of their four competitors are either ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Preseason Poll. Boise State will open play against Florida International at 8 a.m. MT on Friday, followed by a match against No. 15 Florida Atlantic later that day. On Saturday, they face Coastal Carolina at 6 a.m. MT and Palm Beach Atlantic at 8 a.m. MT. Both Boise State and Coastal Carolina are also receiving votes in the preseason rankings.
This tournament marks several firsts for Boise State’s program. It is the first time the Broncos will compete in Florida and their first meetings with Coastal Carolina, Florida International, and Palm Beach Atlantic. They aim to secure their first win over Florida Atlantic after losing to them last season.
The 2026 campaign also brings changes off the court as Boise State begins its inaugural season as members of the Big 12 Conference. The team joined the league in September 2025 alongside Florida State and South Carolina, joining existing members Arizona, Arizona State, and defending national champion TCU. The Broncos are scheduled to participate in two conference events: the Big 12 Preview in Fort Worth, Texas on March 27-28 and the Big 12 Conference Championship from April 22-24 in Tucson, Arizona. Previously, Boise State spent three seasons competing in the Southland Conference after nine years without conference affiliation.
A new head coach will lead Boise State this year as Alex Venardos takes over following Allison Voigt’s departure during the summer. Venardos has been part of the program since 2016 and served as a full-time assistant since 2019. He was named to the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Beach honorees class of 2023.
Last season was one of Boise State’s most successful campaigns so far; they won both the SLC regular season title and conference championship—earning their first appearance at the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Tournament—and finished with a record of 23-12 for their fourth consecutive season with more than twenty wins.
Six all-conference players return this year: Allyson Alden (SLC Newcomer of the Year), Avery Allen, Abbie Wolf, Elli Wolthuis (all first-team honorees), Addison Moss, and Lily Patock (second-team). Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden also return; both rank among program leaders for career wins with Anderson holding 61 victories and Wolden having achieved 54.
Senior Allyson Alden has launched a “Block Party” fundraiser where donors can pledge money for every ace or block she records during this season; proceeds support BroncoBOLD.
Live scoring will be available for all four duals during opening weekend but there will be no live streaming coverage.
