Boise State Beach Volleyball will begin its first season of Big 12 Conference play at the Big 12 Preview, taking place March 27-28 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Broncos, who hold a 7-9 record this season, will face conference opponents as official members for the first time since joining the league last fall.
The move to the Big 12 marks a significant milestone for Boise State’s program. All five of their scheduled opponents at the event are ranked in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Top 20 Poll, presenting an opportunity for Boise State to secure its first ranked win of the year and only its fifth ever.
The team’s schedule includes four duals over two days. They will open against No. 5 Florida State on Friday morning and then play No. 20 Arizona later that day. Saturday’s matches include a contest with No. 7 TCU and a fourth opponent determined by pool results—either No. 11 Arizona State, No. 19 South Carolina or TCU again.
Several athletes have achieved notable milestones this season. Sophomore Avery Allen and freshman Keira Demirjian became Boise State’s first pair to earn Big 12 recognition when they were named Pair of the Week after going undefeated at the Death Volley Invitational against three ranked teams from court three. Another pair, Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden, set a new program record by reaching thirty career wins together.
This year also introduces Alex Venardos as head coach following Allison Voigt’s departure last summer. Venardos has been part of Boise State’s coaching staff since 2016 and was recognized as an AVCA Thirty Under 30 Beach honoree in 2023.
Last season was one of Boise State’s most successful campaigns; they won both regular season and conference titles in the Southland Conference before making their debut appearance at the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Tournament with a final record of twenty-three wins and twelve losses.
