Boise State Beach Volleyball earned two 5-0 victories over Oregon and Santa Clara on April 3 during the first day of the Boise State Classic. The Broncos, now with an overall record of 11-11 and a conference record of 2-1 in the Big 12, played both matches at home.
The wins highlight Boise State’s strong performance as they extended their home winning streak to 22 matches, a run that began in 2020. Head coach Alex Venardos said, “5-0 wins are never easy. Everybody has to be their best. I’m really proud of how we finished each dual today. That second dual especially was straight business.” Venardos also credited the team’s success to local support: “We have such a massive home court advantage. That atmosphere that is created by our fans and our community is second to none. It brings out the best in our team so we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Against Oregon, Addison Moss and Elli Wolthuis started with a straight-set win on court four before Avery Allen and Keira Demirjian added another point for Boise State. Allyson Alden and Serena van der Made secured victory from the top court, while Summer McCann and Lily Patock won after dropping their first set on court three. Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden completed the sweep with a three-set win.
In their match against Santa Clara, Allen and Demirjian posted one of their strongest performances this season with a dominant victory at No. 2 position (21-5, 21-6). Moss and Wolthuis followed up with another straight-set win from court four before Alden and van der Made clinched overall victory for Boise State.
The day’s results also marked individual milestones: Anderson tied Rorianna Chartier for second-most career victories in program history (74), while Wolthuis moved into fourth place all-time (73 wins). The Broncos now have five sweeps this season; they remain undefeated against Oregon historically (20-0) including seven wins at home, while improving to four consecutive victories over Santa Clara.
Looking ahead, Boise State will play UTEP at 12:30 p.m., followed by CSUN at 4:30 p.m., as part of Saturday’s final day action in the Boise State Classic.
