Boise State Beach Volleyball will compete against three nationally ranked opponents at the Death Volley Invitational hosted by Louisiana State University, according to a March 19 announcement. The Broncos, who hold a 7-5 record this season, are scheduled to play No. 9 California and Georgia State on Friday, March 20, followed by matches against No. 6 Florida State and No. 12 LSU on Saturday.

The tournament presents an opportunity for Boise State to secure its first win over a ranked opponent this season and potentially achieve the fifth such victory in program history. The team’s top pairs—Ava Anderson with Addison Wolden and Allyson Alden with Serena van der Made—each have a record of nine wins and three losses so far this year.

Anderson and Wolden are also aiming to set a new school record for career victories as a pair. They currently have 29 wins together, tying them with Sharli O’Neil and Elli Wolthuis for the most in program history.

This season marks Boise State’s debut in the Big 12 Conference after joining alongside Florida State and South Carolina in September 2025. The Broncos previously competed in the Southland Conference for three seasons following nine years without conference affiliation. Upcoming Big 12 events include the Big 12 Preview in Fort Worth, Texas on March 27-28, and the Big 12 Conference Championship from April 22-24 in Tucson, Arizona.

The team is also under new leadership this year with Alex Venardos taking over as head coach after Allison Voigt stepped down last summer. Venardos has been involved with the program since 2016 and was named to the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Beach honorees class of 2023.

Last season was Boise State’s most successful yet; they won both the Southland Conference regular season and championship titles, earning their first berth in the NCAA Beach Volleyball National Tournament while finishing with a record of 23-12—their fourth consecutive season with more than twenty wins.

Senior Allyson Alden launched a ‘Block Party’ fundraiser on February 11 that encourages donors to pledge money for every ace or block she records during the current campaign, with proceeds supporting BroncoBOLD.
