Boise State secured a 84-69 win over San Jose State on Saturday at ExtraMile Arena, sweeping the season series between the two teams. The Broncos improved their overall record to 16-11 and are now 8-8 in Mountain West Conference play.
Drew Fielder led Boise State with 20 points, shooting 9-of-13 from the field. He also contributed five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks. Andrew Meadow matched his career high with three assists and added 16 points. Dylan Andrews finished with 12 points and four assists, while Javan Buchanan provided 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
For San Jose State (7-20 overall, 2-14 MW), Adrian Myers scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Colby Garland had 22 points and five assists. Sadraque NgaNga contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.
San Jose State opened the scoring but Boise State responded with a run of 17 unanswered points to take an early lead. The Broncos shot well in the opening minutes and led by as many as 15 in the first half. San Jose State narrowed the deficit later in the period but did not manage to tie or retake the lead before halftime. Boise State held a five-point advantage at intermission.
In the second half, San Jose State again closed within two points before Boise State pulled away with a decisive run that pushed their lead into double digits. RJ Keene II’s second three-pointer gave Boise State its largest lead at that point, up by 16 midway through the half.
The Broncos eventually led by as many as 21 points and maintained control for most of the game. This marked their sixth time this season shooting over 50 percent from the field and their eighth win by double digits.
Boise State remains undefeated at home against San Jose State, now holding a record of 24-0 in these matchups at ExtraMile Arena. The Broncos have won 17 of their last 18 games against the Spartans and hold an all-time series advantage of 44-4. In both meetings this season, Boise State has outscored San Jose State by a combined total of 46 points.
Since January 13th, Boise State has scored more than 80 points in eight games—more than any other team in the Mountain West during that span. The team is also undefeated this season when limiting opponents to fewer than 70 points per game.
Drew Fielder achieved his eighth game this season scoring at least twenty points—the ninth such performance of his career—and tied his season high with two blocks in Saturday’s contest.
Looking ahead, Boise State will finish its stretch of consecutive home games on Tuesday night against Wyoming. The matchup will be broadcast live on Mountain West Network and KBOI 670 AM radio beginning at 7 p.m. MT from ExtraMile Arena.
