Boise State concluded its 2026 gymnastics season at the NCAA Regional meet at Oregon State on April 3, with senior Sydney Kho, sophomore Kristina Shchennikova, and junior Mahleea Werline representing the team in Friday’s competition.
The participation of these athletes marks the end of the Broncos’ competitive year. The event provided an opportunity for individual gymnasts to showcase their skills on a national stage.
Shchennikova competed in the first rotation and earned a score of 9.825 on bars. This was her eighth bars routine scoring above 9.800 in the last nine meets, including seven routines with scores of 9.825 or higher. Kho finished her collegiate career by scoring a 9.675 on beam during the second rotation, having previously competed on vault 47 times and beam 38 times for Boise State. Werline performed last for Boise State with a score of 9.750 on bars, marking her thirty-eighth performance as a Bronco.
“I’m so proud of the way these three represented Boise State,” said head coach Tina Bird. “It’s so hard to compete without the rest of your team and they made Bronco Nation proud!”
Looking ahead, Boise State will officially join the Pac-12 Conference on July 1, 2026. The Broncos’ first gymnastics season in their new conference will be in 2027, where they are set to compete against teams such as Oregon State, Southern Utah, and Utah State.
