Boise State falls to UNLV, secures fifth seed for Mountain West tournament

Boise State women’s basketball lost to UNLV 76-47 on Wednesday night in Las Vegas. With this result, Boise State finished the regular season with a 23-8 overall record and a 14-6 mark in Mountain West play, earning the fifth seed for the upcoming conference tournament. The team will face No. 12 seed San Jose State in the first round of the Mountain West Championship on March 7.

UNLV secured the second seed in the tournament, improving to 20-10 overall and 15-5 in conference games. Shelbee Brown led UNLV with 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Boise State briefly held a lead early in the game after baskets from Natalie Pasco and Libby Hutton put them ahead 4-3. However, UNLV responded with an 8-0 run and maintained control for the rest of the contest. The Lady Rebels led by double digits at halftime and extended their advantage throughout the second half.

Libby Hutton was Boise State’s top scorer with 12 points and five rebounds. Natalie Pasco reached her 558th career field goal, tying her for fifth place in program history alongside Tasha Harris.

Head coach Gordy Presnell concluded the regular season tied with Colorado State’s Ryun Williams for most Mountain West wins by a head coach at 160.

“We didn’t play well,” head coach Gordy Presnell said. “We will keep trying and get ready for our game on Saturday. Right now, we will focus on San Jose State and see if we can move forward.”

UNLV has now won eleven straight games against Boise State, leading their all-time series 21-12.

The Broncos’ next game is scheduled for March 7 at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas as part of the opening round of the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship.
