Boise State’s men’s basketball team suffered a 75-56 defeat to Utah State on Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah. The loss marks the Broncos’ second consecutive setback, bringing their overall record to 15-11 and 7-8 in Mountain West Conference play.
Drew Fielder led Boise State with 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Dylan Andrews and Dominic Parolin each contributed nine points, while Andrew Meadow added eight points for the Broncos.
Utah State improved its record to 23-3 overall and 13-2 in conference play. Mason Falslev led all scorers with 17 points for the Aggies. MJ Collins added 13 points, and both Zach Keller and Adlan Elamin finished with 10 points apiece.
The opening minutes of the game were closely contested, with neither team leading by more than two points during the first four minutes. Both teams made three field goals early on, and Utah State held a one-point lead at the first media timeout.
Midway through the first half, Boise State went on a nine-point run to turn a two-point deficit into a seven-point lead. However, Utah State responded immediately with a nine-point run of its own to reclaim a two-point advantage.
In the final eight minutes of the first half, Boise State struggled offensively, making only one field goal and scoring just two points. During that stretch, Utah State closed out the period with a 16-2 run and built its largest lead of seven points heading into halftime.
The Broncos shot 37 percent from the floor in the first half and connected on just two three-pointers. Their defense limited Utah State to 30 points by halftime as Boise State trailed by seven at intermission.
Utah State extended its lead early in the second half after hitting its fourth three-pointer of the game. The Aggies eventually increased their advantage to as many as 24 points before closing out the win.
Boise State scored 33 points in the second half but continued to shoot just 37 percent from the field for the game.
Fielder has now led Boise State in scoring for the ninth time this season and recorded his 19th double-digit scoring performance. Over his last four games, he has made 13 three-pointers—including multiple threes in each of his last three outings. Parolin tied his season high with two steals against Utah State.
Looking ahead, Boise State will return home for back-to-back games at ExtraMile Arena starting Saturday afternoon against San Jose State. The matchup will be broadcast live on Mountain West Network and KBOI 93.1 FM, with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m. MT.
