Boise State finished as runner-up at the Mountain West Championship, recording a team score of 196.200, according to a March 21 announcement. The Broncos were edged by Utah State, which scored 196.400, but outperformed San Jose State and Air Force.
The result highlights Boise State’s strong performance in the conference meet and its continued success against familiar opponents. The team now awaits the announcement of individual qualifiers for the upcoming NCAA Regionals.
The Broncos started strong on floor with a score of 49.000, led by sophomore Kristina Shchennikova’s team-high 9.825. Sophomores Bridget Kemp and Delaney Reeves each earned a 9.800, as did fifth-year anchor Blake Pascal. On vault, freshman Miraya Nero posted a leading score of 9.800, while Kemp, senior Sydney Kho, and freshman Isabella Delarosa each contributed scores of 9.750.
In the third rotation, Boise State delivered its best bars performance of the season with a score of 49.200. Junior Carly Buell, sophomore Noelle Ball, and senior Kylee Hamby all achieved scores of 9.850—season highs for Buell and Hamby—while All-Mountain West honorees Shchennikova and Mahleea Werline added scores of 9.825.
The Broncos closed out the meet with their top beam rotation this year, earning a team score of 49.225. Freshman Sydnie Whipple recorded a career-high 9.900 on beam; Shchennikova added a 9.875; Nero notched her second-highest mark of the year with a 9.850; and Kho completed her seventh consecutive beam routine scoring at least 9.800.
Other notable achievements included Whipple tying for third on beam with her career-best score; Ball, Buell, and Hamby tying for fourth on bars; Nero tying for fourth on vault; and Pascal notching her tenth floor routine above 9.800 this season.
Attendance for the event was announced at 1,273 people, bringing Boise State’s season average to a program-record of 2,310 attendees per meet.
Looking ahead, Boise State gymnasts who qualify will compete in NCAA Regionals from April 1-5 at Arizona State University, Kentucky University, Oregon State University or Louisiana State University.
