Boise State University recently held its Doctoral Recruitment Weekend, welcoming over 50 prospective doctoral students from various regions in the United States and abroad. The event took place on February 19 and 20 and was designed to introduce attendees to the university’s academic environment.

During the two-day program, participants met with faculty mentors, engaged with current graduate students and staff, and toured campus facilities as well as research spaces. They also had a chance to explore the city of Boise.

A breakfast and dinner were organized at the Stueckle Sky Center on Friday, where prospective students interacted with university leaders. Scott Lowe, dean of the Graduate College, addressed attendees by saying: “Doctoral education and the outstanding doctoral students we recruit are the engine of Boise State’s research and scholarly communities. Attracting the very best doctoral students is essential to strengthening our research impact, and is vital to our pursuit of a Carnegie R1 classification. Events like Doctoral Recruitment Weekend give us the opportunity to showcase the exceptional programs, faculty mentorship, and collaborative culture that define the Boise State doctoral experience.”

Zeynep Hansen, interim provost and vice president of academic affairs, also delivered remarks emphasizing Boise State’s focus on research excellence, innovation, and student achievement.

The recruitment weekend is part of Boise State’s ongoing efforts to attract top doctoral candidates as it works toward achieving Carnegie R1 status.
