Boise State men’s golf will compete in the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate, their final team tournament of the spring, beginning April 6. The two-day event at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, California, features a field of nine teams and consists of 54 holes.
The tournament holds significance as Boise State aims to defend its title after winning both the team and individual championships at last year’s event. Four Broncos finished in the top 25 during the previous competition, with Luke Cushman securing first place individually.
The course is an 18-hole championship layout measuring 7,159 yards with a par of 72. The format includes two rounds on Monday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Mountain Time and one round on Tuesday starting at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time.
In their most recent outing at The Goodwin in Palo Alto, California, Boise State finished 27th out of a large field. Senior Cole Rueck and Luke Cushman placed within the top half of participants there.
Head coach David Trainor is leading his fourth season with the Broncos and has guided them to notable improvement this year. The team currently holds a national ranking of No.119 and has achieved a record of 75-68-3 this season.
Senior Cole Rueck continues to be one of the team’s standout performers with six top-10 finishes this season and two individual titles. Rueck is ranked No.173 nationally according to SCOREBOARD.
