Boise State men’s golf finished in 27th place at The Goodwin, a three-day event held at Stanford Golf Course, after collectively shooting an 878 (+38), according to a March 28 announcement.
The tournament brought together teams and individual golfers for three rounds of play. Boise State’s team improved its score each day, starting with rounds of 298 and 293 for a two-round total of 591. On the final day, the Broncos posted their best round with a score of 287.
Cole Rueck led Boise State individually by shooting a total score of 212 over three rounds. In a field of 160 golfers, Rueck finished tied for 44th place after finishing two-over par. Luke Cushman also placed in the top-100 with a nine-over-par total (219), tying for the ninety-seventh spot. Other team members included Gavyn Knight (224, +14), who tied for one hundred twenty-seventh; Reese Knox (226, +16); and Chase Gorder (226, +16), both tying for one hundred thirty-eighth.
The team’s next competition will be the Genesis Collegiate Showcase on April 2 at Riviera Country Club. Rueck and Knight are set to represent Boise State in this event; Rueck is noted as the defending champion from back-to-back years. The Broncos’ last regular season tournament will take place April 6-7 at the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate.
This series of tournaments marks an important stretch as Boise State looks to build momentum heading into postseason play.
