Boise State men’s golf team is set to compete in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which will be held at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina, from March 9-10. The event will feature 15 teams playing a total of 54 holes.

The Palmetto Golf Club, established in 1892, is recognized as the oldest continuously operated eighteen-hole golf course still in its original location in the Southeast. The course has a par-71 layout and measures 6,695 yards from the championship tees.

The tournament format includes two days of play. Teams will play 36 continuous holes on Monday with a shotgun start and finish with another 18 holes on Tuesday. Each team will use a five count four scoring format. Live scoring for the event is available on Leaderboard King.

In their most recent outing at the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, Boise State won both team and individual titles. The Broncos posted a combined score of 841 (-23) to lead an eleven-team field. Senior Cole Rueck secured victory by four strokes with a total score of 200 (-16).

This marks Boise State’s second appearance at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in three years. During their last participation in March 2024, they finished seventh with a team score of 866 (+26). Two golfers placed in the top ten; Rueck tied for sixth after shooting a 212 (+2).

Head coach David Trainor is now in his fourth season leading Boise State men’s golf. Under his guidance, the program has shown steady progress: it ranked No. 176 nationally with a record of 39-99-2 during the 2023-24 season but improved to No. 108 and an overall record of 88-63-3 for the following year.

So far this season (2025-26), Boise State holds a record of 59-31-2 and sits at No.106 nationally after six events, winning two team titles and finishing under par in five tournaments.

Cole Rueck was named Mountain West Golfer of the Week on February 26 following his performance at Lake Las Vegas Invitational—his first time receiving this honor. He has earned two individual titles and five top-ten finishes during his senior year.

During fall competition in late 2025, Boise State recorded a cumulative mark of 49-31-2 and placed among the top six teams at three out of five tournaments played under par four times and achieved its nineteenth all-time tournament win at Oregon State Invitational.

Competing teams include South Carolina Aiken (host), Army West Point, Campbell, Davidson, East Carolina, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, Mercer, Navy, Presbyterian, Samford, Temple, UAB and Virginia Tech alongside Boise State.

Boise State’s lineup for this tournament consists of Cole Rueck, Gavyn Knight, Reese Knox, Chase Gorder and Ryan Shepherd.
