Boise State men’s tennis is set to compete at the Arizona State Diablo Collegiate Invitational in Tempe, Arizona, on February 27 and 28. The team will begin play against No. 31 UC Santa Barbara on February 27 at noon Mountain Time. Their opponent for the second day will be determined after results from the first round.

The invitational is hosted by No. 11 Arizona State and features a field of eight programs: No. 29 Arizona, No. 68 Boise State, No. 51 Liberty, Michigan State, Tulane, No. 64 Washington, and No. 31 UC Santa Barbara.

UC Santa Barbara enters the tournament ranked No. 31 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings with a record of six wins and four losses this season. Their defeats have come against highly ranked teams at the ITA National Team Indoor Tennis Center. Boise State leads their all-time series against UC Santa Barbara 13-6 but has lost the last three meetings.

Boise State’s roster includes seven returning players—Carson Baker, Adam Duda, Idriss Haddouch, Taiyo Kurata, Julius Seifert, Michael Seversen, and Lukas Velik—as well as transfers Stewart Aronson from Clemson and Avery Talllakson from New Mexico, and freshman Filip Soderqvist.

Two Broncos are close to reaching individual milestones: Stewart Aronson and Lukas Velik each need one more singles victory to reach fifteen wins this season; Aronson and Filip Soderqvist also require two more doubles victories as a pair to reach that mark.

Filip Soderqvist was recognized as Mountain West Freshman of the Week on February 18—his first career honor and the team’s first weekly accolade this season.

Carson Baker returns as an All-Mountain West selection in both singles and doubles from last season—the only current Bronco with such distinctions for the 2026 roster.

The most recent ITA rankings released on February 19 list Boise State at No. 68 nationally among teams competing in Tempe. Individual player rankings include Jay Friend (Arizona) at fifth in singles nationally and Dominique Rolland (UC Santa Barbara) at thirty-fourth.

Since joining conference play that included regular season round robin competition in 2009, Boise State has won five regular season conference titles—one in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and four in the Mountain West (MW). In conference tournaments since joining MW in 2012, they have claimed six titles out of eighteen overall across four different conferences throughout program history.

Boise State has made twenty-one NCAA tournament appearances overall—including each of the past three years: 2023, 2024, and 2025.
