Boise State men’s tennis, ranked No. 64 nationally, will play two away matches this weekend, facing Air Force on March 27 and New Mexico on March 29.

These matches are significant as the Broncos aim to improve their position in the Mountain West Conference standings and continue their strong season performance. The team currently holds a 17-6 overall record and is tied at 1-1 in conference play.

Air Force enters the matchup with a 6-8 overall record and has recently secured wins over Grand Canyon and BYU. Boise State has won its last six meetings against Air Force, holding a historical advantage of 14-10 in head-to-head matchups. Against New Mexico, which currently stands at 5-11 overall, Boise State leads the all-time series with a record of 25-14.

Several Broncos are nearing individual milestones this season. Filip Soderqvist is one singles win away from reaching twenty victories, while Carson Baker and Lukas Velik each need two more singles wins to reach that mark. In doubles play, Stewart Aronson and Soderqvist are one win shy of fifteen together this season; Baker and Avery Tallakson require two more wins to hit twenty as a pair.

Avery Tallakson was named Mountain West Player of the Week on March 18—his first such honor—and Soderqvist has earned Mountain West Freshman of the Week twice this year. Baker remains the only active Bronco with All-Mountain West honors from last season.

The team’s roster includes seven returning players alongside transfers Stewart Aronson (from Clemson) and Avery Tallakson (from New Mexico), plus freshman Filip Soderqvist. Historically, Boise State has claimed five regular-season conference titles since joining round-robin play in conferences starting in 2009. The program also boasts eighteen conference tournament championships across four different conferences as well as twenty-one NCAA tournament appearances.
