Boise State men’s tennis defeated New Mexico 4-3 on March 29 in Albuquerque, extending their winning streak to five matches. Stewart Aronson clinched the victory for the Broncos by securing the final singles point against Philip Bosin.
The match was closely contested, with Boise State rallying after losing the opening doubles match. Idriss Haddouch and Taiyo Kurata won their doubles match on court three, followed by Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson clinching the doubles point on court one. In singles play, Filip Soderqvist gave Boise State an early lead before New Mexico tied the score with wins on courts six and one.
Lukas Velik put Boise State ahead again with a win over Alberto Perez at No. 3 singles, but New Mexico evened the score once more. The deciding point came when Aronson defeated Bosin in three sets.
Notable achievements from this match include Soderqvist and Aronson each earning their tenth duals win of the season in singles, while Velik reached his twentieth win overall and notched his first at No. 3 position this year. The Broncos now lead the all-time series against New Mexico 26-14, including an 11-4 record in Albuquerque.
Looking ahead, Boise State will host San Diego State on April 4.
