Boise State men’s tennis will host the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for its last regular season match on April 18 at Appleton Tennis Center, with a senior ceremony to follow.
The upcoming match is significant as it marks the end of the regular season and provides both teams an opportunity to improve their standings ahead of postseason play. Boise State is currently ranked No. 69 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings and holds a Mountain West conference record of 3-3, while UNLV stands at No. 70 with a conference record of 4-2.
The Broncos have had notable achievements this season, including nine sweeps—their highest total since 2021—and are tied for second in the Mountain West with two wins over ranked opponents. Stewart Aronson leads Boise State with four match-clinching victories this year, while Filip Soderqvist holds the team’s longest active singles winning streak at four matches. Idriss Haddouch is approaching a milestone, being three wins away from reaching a combined total of 100 singles and doubles victories during his time at Boise State.
In terms of player honors, Tallakson was named Mountain West Player of the Week on March 18—his first such award and Boise State’s first since March 5, 2025. Soderqvist has been recognized as Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times this season: Feb. 18, March 11 and April 15—the most freshman honors in one season since 2022. Baker remains the only active Bronco who earned All-Mountain West distinctions in singles and doubles last year.
Historically, Boise State leads UNLV in their all-time series by a margin of fifteen wins to seven and has won eight out of nine matches played against UNLV in Boise. The Broncos have also secured five regular-season conference titles since joining round robin play in conferences starting from their Western Athletic Conference membership in 2009 through multiple championships within the Mountain West Conference (MW). They have claimed six MW tournament championships since joining that league for competition beginning with the 2012 campaign.
Looking ahead, both teams aim to strengthen their positions before entering postseason tournaments. The result could impact seeding for upcoming championship events as well as individual player milestones.
