Boise State announced on Apr. 6 that it has signed guard Damari Wheeler-Thomas to its men’s basketball program.
The addition of Wheeler-Thomas brings experience and depth to the Broncos’ roster as he joins after three seasons at North Dakota State. His track record includes starting in nearly every game during his collegiate career, which could be significant for Boise State’s upcoming season.
Wheeler-Thomas, who stands six feet tall and weighs 185 pounds, started 92 out of the 96 games he played with the Bison. He averaged 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting over forty-two percent from the field during his time at North Dakota State.
In the most recent season (2025-26), Wheeler-Thomas started all thirty-two games and helped lead North Dakota State to a record twenty-seven wins—the highest single-season total in program history. He was named to the All-Summit League Second Team and earned Most Valuable Player honors in the conference tournament as his team won both the regular season and tournament titles. The Bison secured an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, where they faced Michigan State in the Round of Sixty-Four; Wheeler-Thomas scored sixteen points in that contest.
Before college, Wheeler-Thomas attended Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois, leading his team to an undefeated conference title as a senior during the 2021–22 season. He received IBCA all-state second team honors for Class 4A and was also selected for Chicago Sun-Times’ Class 4A all-state second team.
The signing is expected to strengthen Boise State’s backcourt as preparations begin for next season.
