Boise State secured an 8-2 win over Santa Clara at the DeMarini Invitational on Friday, with Skylar Stroh leading the offense. Stroh, a junior second baseman, hit a double and a home run while driving in five runs, marking a career high. Her home run in the seventh inning brought in two runners and extended Boise State’s lead beyond reach.
The Broncos (7-6) took an early advantage with two runs in the first inning. Marissa Gonzalez contributed with an RBI single, followed by Stroh’s run-scoring double. In the fourth inning, Kaylee Vieira added another run with an RBI single.
In the fifth inning, Boise State capitalized on errors to score two unearned runs. Mya Flindt hit an RBI double and Stroh drove in another run on a fielder’s choice.
Santa Clara (6-6) managed to score twice in the sixth inning against Boise State starter Charley Duran, who improved her record to 3-1 and set a personal best with six strikeouts. Loula-Rae McNamara came out of the bullpen to finish the game and earned her first career save by recording the final five outs.
According to team notes, this marks Boise State’s fourth victory this season over teams that participated in the 2025 NCAA Softball Championship: Mississippi, Cal State Fullerton, and Weber State.
Stroh now leads Boise State with 14 RBIs this season.
Looking ahead, Boise State is scheduled to play No. 2 Texas at noon PT/1 p.m. MT and No. 10 Stanford at 2:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. MT on Saturday at Stanford.
