Boise State lost 4-1 to Portland State in the Blue Collar Classic on Friday in Boise, Idaho. Mya Flindt hit her fifth home run of the season for the Broncos, but it was not enough to overcome an early deficit.
Portland State scored three runs off Bronco starter Olivia Bauer and added another against reliever Julianne Rose, building a 4-0 lead after three innings. Boise State had opportunities with two runners on base in the second, third, and fourth innings but did not score during those frames. The Broncos left seven runners on base despite outhitting Portland State 7-6.
Flindt’s solo home run came in the sixth inning. Marissa Gonzalez contributed two hits for Boise State, including a double—her sixth extra-base hit over the last four games. Julianne Rose pitched five innings in relief, allowing one run, striking out five batters, and retiring the final 14 hitters she faced.
Boise State will next play Weber State at 3 p.m. and St. Thomas at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
