Boise State lost 6-2 to New Mexico on Apr. 4, as the Lobos completed a series sweep over the Broncos in Boise, Idaho.
The loss marks three consecutive defeats for Boise State against New Mexico. The Broncos never held a lead during the series. New Mexico improved its record to 18-19 overall and 6-6 in Mountain West play, while Boise State fell to 18-23 overall and 4-8 in conference games.
Kate Penberthy and Sophia Romero led the Broncos offensively, each going two-for-three with an RBI. Both teams scored in the first inning before New Mexico added two runs in the third. Boise State answered with one run of its own in that frame but could not catch up. The Lobos secured their win by scoring three unearned runs in the seventh inning.
Loula-Rae McNamara lowered her team-best earned run average to 2.72 during the game.
Looking ahead, Boise State is scheduled to play a doubleheader at Utah State on Wednesday starting at noon.
