Boise State will travel to Fort Collins, Colorado, for a three-game conference series against Colorado State from March 27-29. The Broncos currently hold a record of 17-18 overall and are tied with the Rams at 3-3 in Mountain West Conference play.
The matchup is significant as both teams are among five tied for third place in the conference standings. Grand Canyon leads the league at 6-0, while Nevada sits at second with a 4-2 record. The top two teams receive a bye and the top six qualify for the Mountain West Championship scheduled for May 6-9 in Reno, Nevada.
Boise State enters the series after winning two out of three games against Fresno State last week, securing victories with late runs in each of their first two wins. Historically, Boise State has found success against Colorado State, winning six straight overall and their last ten meetings in Fort Collins.
Several individual performances have stood out this season. Loula-Rae McNamara leads all NCAA pitchers with 28 appearances and is tied for fourth nationally with four saves. She recently earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors after contributing significantly during games against Sacramento State and Fresno State. Junior Skylar Stroh leads Boise State with 30 runs batted in (RBI) and delivered a game-winning home run against Stanford earlier this season.
Head coach Justin Shults is approaching a school milestone; now in his fifth year leading Boise State softball, he needs just fifteen more wins to set the program’s career record for coaching victories. Other notable achievements include Julianne Rose’s one-hit shutout performance earlier this year and Charley Duran’s recognition as Mountain West Co-Freshman of the Week following key relief appearances.
The Broncos have faced one of their toughest schedules yet, playing numerous games against teams ranked within the top hundred nationally or who qualified for postseason play last year. As they prepare to meet Colorado State on its home field, Boise State looks to improve its standing within both conference play and national rankings.
