Boise State’s women’s softball team secured a 9-5 win over Weber State before falling 4-1 to St. Thomas during the Blue Collar Classic on Saturday in Boise.
In the matchup against Weber State, Boise State recorded 12 hits. Quinn Southerland, Skylar Stroh, Mya Flindt, and Kate Penberthy each had two hits. Stroh opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning. Hollie Farmer added an RBI double in the second, and Southerland drove in another run with a ground out to extend the lead to 3-0.
Mya Flindt hit her sixth home run of the season in the third inning. Later that inning, Penberthy contributed a two-run homer, giving Boise State a 6-1 advantage. Freshman pitcher Loula-Rae McNamara earned her fourth win of the season and struck out five batters, setting both a season and career high.
In their game against St. Thomas, Chloe Hughes provided Boise State’s only run with an RBI single in the second inning.
“Skylar Stroh, Mya Flindt and Kate Penberthy each homered for Boise State,” according to team notes. “Freshman Loula-Rae McNamara struck out a season/career high five strikeouts.”
Boise State will play Weber State again at home on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
