Boise State University announced on Mar. 10 that it is one of six institutions to receive a grant from DOERS – Driving OER Sustainability for Student Success, a group focused on advancing open educational resources (OER) in higher education.
The grant aims to help Boise State assess and improve its current OER practices over the next year. Open educational resources are free teaching and learning materials that can reduce costs for students and support academic success.
The application for the grant was submitted by Hans Aagard, Kelly Asripe, Jennifer Marsh, Dan Sanford, and Amy Vecchione. The funding will allow the university to use the DOERS OER rubric as a tool for self-assessment of its OER initiatives.
As part of the program, Boise State will receive mentorship from members of the DOERS Advancing OER for All Working Group. The university will also participate in peer learning opportunities with other grantee institutions, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts within higher education to make learning more accessible and affordable through open resources. The collaboration with DOERS is expected to strengthen Boise State’s commitment to student success.
