Boise State announced on Mar. 31 that it will host the University of Idaho for the annual State of Idaho Match in women’s golf, scheduled for Thursday, April 2 at Warm Springs Golf Course in Boise. The event is set to begin at 10 a.m.
The match will feature a unique format with three different scoring styles across 27 holes. Teams will compete in Alternate Shot for the first nine holes, Four-Ball for the next nine, and Singles matches for the final segment. Each match is worth one point, with ties resulting in half points. If teams are tied after all matches, the winner will be determined by which team has won more individual holes.
The Broncos come into this event after finishing eighth at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin. Teal Matsueda led with her fifth top-25 finish of the season and Jillian Hui recorded Boise State’s best round on the final day.
Leia Chung returned to competition this season following an injury that kept her out last year and quickly made an impact by winning at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and setting program records. Chung also won individually at the New Mexico Golf Iconic Classic, helping lead Boise State to a team title there as well.
Head coach Kailin Downs is now in her fifth season guiding Boise State women’s golf and recently signed a two-year contract extension through 2028. Under Downs’ leadership, several school scoring records have been set or broken over recent seasons.
Thursday’s event also serves as BroncoBOLD day for women’s golf—a campus-wide initiative promoting mental health awareness among student-athletes.
