Boise State will host New Mexico for a three-game Mountain West Conference softball series from April 2 to April 4. The Broncos, currently holding an 18-20 overall record and a 4-5 mark in conference play, will look to improve their standing as they return home after dropping two of three games at Colorado State last week.
The upcoming series is significant for both teams’ positions in the Mountain West standings. Boise State is tied for fifth place with San Diego State and sits just one game behind Colorado State and UNLV, while New Mexico enters the matchup with a 15-19 overall record and a 3-6 conference record. The top two teams in the league receive byes into the Mountain West Championship, while the top six qualify for the tournament scheduled May 6-9 in Reno, Nevada.
Historically, Boise State has performed well against New Mexico, holding a 25-13 advantage in head-to-head matchups and winning five of six previous series. At home in Boise, the Broncos have won fourteen out of eighteen meetings against the Lobos.
