The Boise State track and field team opened its outdoor season with five event titles and several top-five program marks across three meets, according to an April 4 announcement.
The start of the outdoor campaign is significant for the Broncos as it highlights both individual and team achievements in various events. These results set a positive tone for the remainder of their competitive season.
Alex Thompson set a new program record in the men’s 5,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational, finishing with a time of 13:33.96. At the UNLV Rebel Elite Invitational, Victoria Lotz won the weight throw (58.72 meters), Aayden Simmons took first place in high jump (2.05 meters), Raekwon Weatherspoon secured victory in long jump (7.78 meters), and Ollie Wear captured the javelin title (68.00 meters). Weatherspoon’s long jump ranks fourth in school history.
Additional notable performances included Emily Stefan and Love Uzoekwe tying for fifth-best long jump mark in program history at 6.10 meters, while Uzoekwe, Priscilla Adu-Gyamfi, Stefan, and Breasia Roberts recorded the fourth-fastest women’s 4×100-meter relay time at 45.58 seconds. Roberts also ran the third-fastest women’s 100-meter dash at Boise State with a time of 11.57 seconds.
At another meet—the Mike Fanelli Classic—Hanna Ackermann won the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 16:21.96 as Broncos athletes posted collegiate-best marks in most performances.
Looking ahead, Boise State will compete at two upcoming meets: Texas A&M’s 44 Farms Team Invitational from April 9-11 in College Station, Texas; and NNU Open on April 11 in Nampa, Idaho.
