Boise State University’s Division of Research and Economic Development announced on Apr. 7 the appointment of Chelan Lippincott as senior industry and business development officer. Lippincott brings over 15 years of experience in building partnerships among industry, academia, and philanthropic investors.
In her new position, Lippincott will focus on strengthening connections between Boise State researchers and both regional and national industry partners. Her responsibilities include identifying opportunities for sponsored research, technology transfer, and workforce development that match the university’s strengths with Idaho’s evolving business needs. This work also supports The Junction, Boise State’s hub for business innovation, research translation, and venture creation.
Roger Brown, director of economic development at Boise State University, said: “Chelan’s strategic approach to bridging academia, industry and philanthropy is an incredible new asset in Boise State’s effort to deepen our service to industry partners and grow our economic impact across the region. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
Lippincott previously served as director of development for the University of Idaho College of Engineering in Boise. In that role she secured more than $4 million in support for research facilities, academic programs, and student initiatives while managing a portfolio of over 150 individual and corporate relationships. She has also held leadership roles at Techbridge Girls—a nonprofit focused on equity in STEM education—where she managed a fundraising team working toward a $3.3 million goal.
Her earlier experience includes fundraising positions at Boise State Public Radio and KUOW in Seattle as well as serving as Membership Director at KBCS in Bellevue where she increased major gifts by 60 percent.
“I look forward to helping connect local industry with research innovations at Boise State,” said Lippincott.
Lippincott holds a Master of Leadership Communication from Boise State University along with other academic credentials including a Bachelor of Arts from Washington State University’s Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.
