Boise State University announced on Apr. 17 that its Student Union Building will be renamed the Boise State University Westmark Student Union Building as part of a sponsorship agreement with Westmark Credit Union.
The renaming comes after the Idaho State Board of Education approved the partnership, which makes Westmark the exclusive official credit union sponsor of Boise State. The agreement also includes plans for a Westmark micro-branch inside the Student Union Building.
Westmark Credit Union will contribute more than $8.5 million over ten years to support improvements to the building and fund student-serving programs and initiatives. “Westmark Credit Union brings a longstanding commitment to education and community that aligns closely with our mission. We’re thankful for this partnership and believe it will create lasting, positive impact for Boise State University students and the communities we serve,” said Boise State Interim President Jeremiah Shinn.
Mike Schenck, President & CEO of Westmark Credit Union, said, “Westmark is thrilled to partner with Boise State University. Together, we have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students and our broader community. This partnership advances our mission to elevate financial well-being by meeting people where they are—providing accessible financial guidance, education, and tools that support real-life decisions. Through our presence in the Westmark Student Union Building, we look forward to serving students, faculty, staff, and the Treasure Valley while supporting Boise State’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible education.”
Westmark was founded in 1954 as an Idaho-based member-owned cooperative and now serves over 80,000 members at 15 branches across Idaho.
Before finalizing this sponsorship agreement with Westmark Credit Union, Boise State consulted with experts who reviewed campus sponsorship opportunities by benchmarking assets against peer universities nationwide.
