The Boise State women’s golf team finished in seventh place at the Cowgirl Classic, concluding their regular season on Apr. 8 with a team score of 874 (+10). Leia Chung tied for 13th with an even-par 216, while Callia Ward tied for 25th at three-over-par to lead the Broncos.
This result marks the team’s best performance of the spring, as they posted a season-best opening round score of 288 (even par). The tournament featured strong individual showings from several players. Brooke Patterson recorded a season-low round of 70 (-2) in the first round and ended with her lowest tournament total this year. Jaime Hards also achieved a career-low score in her opening round.
Head coach Kailin Downs said, “We come away from this event with two solid rounds of golf and a lot of positives heading into the Mountain West Championships. This team is capable of some low rounds and we showed glimpses of that these past two days. There were great individual performances for Leia and Callia as well. Now we go to work for our final preparations for conference.”
Chung’s finish was her sixth top-25 result this season and brings her career total to eighteen, tying her for seventh-most in program history. Ward secured her third top-25 finish this year and was one of four players in the field to record an eagle during play.
Boise State will next compete at the Mountain West Championships scheduled for April 21-23 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
