Boise State women’s golf will finish its 2025-26 regular season at the Cowgirl Classic, scheduled for April 7-8 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona, according to an April 5 announcement. The two-day event will feature two rounds on Tuesday and a final round on Wednesday.
The tournament includes a competitive field with teams such as Wyoming (host), Arizona State, BYU, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Iowa State, Long Beach State, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oral Roberts, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, UC Riverside UNLV and UTEP.
Boise State recently secured a decisive win over Idaho in the State of Idaho Match on April 2. The Broncos won by a margin of 13.5-2.5 after sweeping the Alternate Shot round and capturing victories in both four-ball matches and six singles showdowns.
Leia Chung returned to competition this season after missing last year due to injury. She won the Golfweek Fall Challenge with record-setting scores and also took the individual title at the New Mexico Golf Iconic Classic while leading Boise State to a team victory. Chung now has three career individual titles—one short of tying Samantha Martin’s school record—and holds several program records for scoring averages and low rounds.
Head coach Kailin Downs is completing her fifth year with Boise State. Under her leadership this fall and throughout 2024–25 seasons the team set multiple school records for scoring averages and low tournament scores. Downs recently signed a contract extension through the 2028 season.
Teal Matsueda earned All-Mountain West Second Team honors for her performance during the season—the first Bronco since 2018-19 to receive all-conference recognition. Several players including Chung and Matsueda are featured prominently in Boise State’s record books for their individual achievements.
