Boise State women’s golf will take part in the 2026 Mountain West Championship from April 21 to 23, with the event set to be held at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The Broncos are among ten teams competing, with tee times for the opening day scheduled between 9:20 and 10 a.m. Mountain Time.
The tournament brings together Boise State alongside Colorado State, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV and Wyoming. The event is an important test for the Broncos as they look to build on recent performances and school records.
In their most recent outing at the Cowgirl Classic, Boise State finished seventh overall with a team score of 874 (+10). Leia Chung tied for thirteenth place at even par while Callia Ward tied for twenty-fifth at three over par. The team’s first-round score of even-par 288 was its best of the spring season.
Chung has returned strongly after missing last season due to injury. She won the Golfweek Fall Challenge by nine strokes—matching a program record margin—and set new records for both program and tournament lowest scores over fifty-four holes (199, -14). Chung also led Boise State to victory at the New Mexico Golf Iconic Classic with her individual title performance (207, -9), contributing to one of the best team scores in school history.
Head coach Kailin Downs is now in her fifth year leading Boise State. Under Downs’ guidance since her appointment in 2021, several program records have been broken including scoring averages and championship round scores. She recently signed a two-year contract extension through the 2028 season.
Teal Matsueda earned All-Mountain West Second Team honors this season—the first Bronco recognized since 2018-19—and several players including Chung and Jillian Hui are featured prominently throughout Boise State’s record books for both single rounds and career averages.
