Boise State women’s basketball is set to play San Jose State on Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. Mountain Time. The matchup will be available for viewing on the Mountain West Network and can be heard on 670 KBOI AM radio.

San Jose State, currently tied with Utah State for 11th place in the Mountain West standings, holds a conference record of 2-14 and an overall record of 4-23. The Spartans are coming off a narrow victory over Utah State, winning 58-56 on Feb. 18. As a team, San Jose State ranks second in the conference for blocks per game (3.7) and three-point attempts (25.5). Maya Anderson stands second in the league in field goal attempts (371), while Gabriela Pato is third in both total blocks (30) and blocks per game (1.1).

In their previous meeting on Jan. 31, Boise State defeated San Jose State by a score of 96-62 in Boise, Idaho. During that game, Boise State set several season-high marks including points scored (96), field goals made (35), three-pointers made (14), rebounds (48), assists (24), points from turnovers (36), fast break points (14), and points in a quarter (39). Dani Bayes recorded her second double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds; Tatum Thompson led all scorers with 28 points.

This season, Boise State has used the same starting five players for every game—currently the only team in the Mountain West to do so. Starters Dani Bayes, Hansen, Libby Hutton, Pasco, and Tatum Thompson have each scored over 200 points this year; they were also the first group within the conference to see five players surpass both the 100-point and then later the 150-point threshold.

Three Broncos—Tatum Thompson with 368 points, Bayes with 343 points, and Pasco with 331—have each exceeded the 300-point mark this season; no other team in the Mountain West has achieved this.

Bayes, Hansen, Pasco and Tatum Thompson have all surpassed career milestones by reaching more than one thousand career points as members of Boise State.

The Broncos earned their twelfth conference win of this campaign following a victory over Air Force on Feb.18—the first time since the program’s successful run during the pandemic-shortened season of 2019-20 that they have reached this milestone. Head coach Gordy Presnell commented: “It marked head coach Gordy Presnell’s eighth season with twelve or more conference wins, sixth in the MW during his tenure at Boise State.”

With their win over Air Force also came their twenty-first victory overall this season—a feat accomplished eight times under Presnell’s leadership at Boise State.

The Broncos are seeking to secure their thirteenth conference win for only the third time since joining the Mountain West Conference and hope to reach twenty-two wins overall for just the first time since four seasons ago.

Boise State picked up its fifth road victory earlier against Wyoming—the most since last season—and could achieve six road wins if they secure another away victory before season’s end.

Statistically this year, Boise State has outscored opponents by more than one hundred points collectively during third quarters across all games played so far; when outrebounding opponents they remain undefeated at fifteen wins without a loss.

Individual scoring leaders include Tatum Thompson who leads with six games as top scorer; Pasco follows closely behind along with Bayes and Hutton each leading four times respectively while Hansen leads once.

Coach Gordy Presnell is now ranked twenty-second all-time among NCAA Division I women’s basketball coaches for total victories at seven hundred ninety wins; he entered this campaign fifth among active Division I head coaches nationally.

From beyond three-point range this year Boise State leads not only its conference but ranks third nationally by converting thirty-eight point seven percent of its attempts from distance—189 out of nearly five hundred shots taken as a team so far—with Pasco leading individually at seventy made threes shooting forty-six point one percent from deep which places her seventh-best nationwide.

Tatum Thompson holds first place within conference individual rankings for field goal percentage at forty-six point five percent while teammate Hansen leads all players with one hundred fifteen assists averaging four point three per contest; collectively as a squad they lead their league averaging sixteen assists per outing alongside scoring an average seventy-one points per game—the highest figure across any team within their conference—as well as making thirteen free throws per contest also leading all teams locally.

Dani Bayes notably posted one of nation’s top single-game three-point shooting performances earlier this year hitting seventy-seven point eight percent against UC Davis tying her school’s second-best ever mark for accuracy from long range during one contest; she now sits fourth all-time among Bronco players for career threes made trailing teammate Pasco who is currently second on that list having hit two hundred sixty-five triples thus far.

Earlier nine-game winning streaks saw Boise snap runs not matched since before joining current competition structures back during prior decades while recent back-to-back large-margin victories reflect historical consistency seen under Coach Presnell including strong home records such as starting consecutive seasons unbeaten through seven or eight contests locally.
