The Boise State women’s golf team finished in eighth place at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, according to a March 17 announcement. The team posted a total score of 947 (+83) over three rounds in Austin, Texas.
The tournament was marked by challenging weather conditions, with harsh winds and cold temperatures affecting play on the first day, which included 36 holes. Despite these difficulties, Boise State improved its performance throughout the event, reducing its team score by 20 strokes from the first to second round and making a further six-stroke improvement on the final day.
Junior Teal Matsueda led the Broncos for the second consecutive tournament, tying for 18th place individually with a score of 230 (+14). Matsueda’s finish marked her fifth top-25 result of the season and brought her career total to 16 top-25 finishes, tying her for tenth-most in program history. Junior Jillian Hui recorded Boise State’s best single round of the week with a final-day score of 73 (+1).
Other notable performances included Leia Chung finishing with 34 pars—tied for sixth most among all competitors—and Boise State tying for fourth-best average on par-5 holes (5.13). All seven teams that placed ahead of Boise State are ranked within the nation’s top-50, including Texas (No. 7), Oklahoma (No. 9), and Pepperdine (No. 10).
Looking ahead, Boise State will host Idaho for the State of Idaho Match on April 2 at Warm Springs Golf Course in Boise. The competition will feature three formats across 27 holes: alternate shot, four-ball competition, and singles matches.
