The Boise State women’s tennis team earned a 4-0 victory over No. 63 Grand Canyon on March 20 in Boise.
This win is significant as it marks the Broncos’ tenth consecutive dual match victory, including six sweeps, and their first-ever win against Grand Canyon. The team has also started conference play with a 3-0 record for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
In doubles play, Stella Beldiman and Paula Schaefer secured a win at No. 2 doubles before the deciding match moved to court one. Tereza Polakova and Zdena Safarova rallied from behind to clinch the doubles point with a tiebreak victory. In singles, Masa Viriant defeated Hams Mewally, while Safarova picked up her sixth straight win at the top position. Allison Isaacs sealed the overall match with her performance on court four.
Head coach Beck Roghaar said, “That’s a very good team, but our squad has been stuck in our process with what has to happen Monday to Thursday to come out and perform well. I’m so proud of our group for the energy, focus and determination they brought today.”
Other notable achievements include Safarova recording her 29th career singles win at No. 1, which is fourth-most in program history, and Boise State extending its winning streak against Mountain West opponents to twelve matches since joining the conference in 2011.
Looking ahead, Boise State will host No. 31 San Diego State in its alumni match on Sunday, March 22 at the Appleton Tennis Center.
