Boise State women’s tennis achieved two 4-0 victories on Saturday, defeating Gonzaga and Eastern Washington after a three-week break. These wins marked a significant milestone for head coach Beck Roghaar, who became the program’s all-time winningest head coach with his 182nd and 183rd career victories. Roghaar surpassed former record-holder Mark Tichenor, who had 181 wins during his tenure.

In the match against Gonzaga, Boise State secured the doubles point after Stella Beldiman and Paula Schaefer won their match on court two. The deciding doubles match was clinched by Carla Grignac and Lorelyz Maruffo, who came from behind to win 7-5 on court three. In singles play, Tereza Polakova gave Boise State a 2-0 lead with a straight-set victory on court two. Carla Grignac extended the advantage with another straight-set win, and Zdena Safarova secured the overall victory for Boise State with her win on the top court.

The Broncos continued their strong performance against Eastern Washington by winning both completed doubles matches. In singles, Masa Viriant and Allison Isaacs each posted decisive victories to give Boise State a commanding lead. Polakova then clinched the match with her second singles win of the day.

Roghaar commented on his team’s performance: “I love this team. They battle so hard and bring everything they have. Gonzaga at home is no easy feat and Eastern Washington is having a great year. Winning both was a great result for the Broncos. We were pushed to the limits in a lot of places and to see how we showed up in those moments gives us so much confidence. Really excited for this group, and we’re going to keep working to reach our best.”

With these results, Boise State has now won six consecutive duals. The team also won every completed singles match across both duals in straight sets. Carla Grignac and Masa Viriant improved their individual records to a team-best 7-1 in singles play this season.
