The Boise State women’s tennis team lost 4-3 to UNLV on March 29 at the Appleton Tennis Center, ending its winning streak in a close Mountain West matchup.
Both teams entered the match undefeated in conference play, making it a key contest following last year’s Mountain West Tournament championship rematch. The Rebels secured the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. Boise State answered in singles as Allison Isaacs and Paula Schaefer posted wins on courts four and five, giving the Broncos a temporary lead.
UNLV tied the score with a win at No. 1 singles before Carla Grignac regained the lead for Boise State by defeating Sofiia Sokolvak in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 7-6 [5]). However, UNLV won matches on courts three and two to clinch the overall victory.
Isaacs earned her eleventh consecutive win at No. 4 singles this season, improving her record to 13-2. Grignac recorded her tenth singles victory of the spring for a 10-1 mark. Schaefer has now won her last two completed singles matches. This loss marks Boise State’s first defeat since January 30.
Looking ahead, Boise State will travel to California for upcoming matches against San Jose State on April 2 and Fresno State on April 4.
