The Boise State women’s tennis team won a close 4-3 match against Wyoming in Laramie on March 15, marking its final trip to the venue as Mountain West opponents.
This victory is significant for Boise State as it extends their winning streak to nine consecutive dual matches and opens conference play with a 2-0 record for the third straight season. The team’s performance continues a strong tradition, with their best Mountain West start recorded in the 2017-18 season when they finished 5-0.
The doubles point was decided after Lorelyz Marruffo and Carla Grignac secured a win on court three, followed by Tereza Polakova and Zdena Safarova clinching a tiebreaker at court one. In singles play, Safarova earned her second straight-set win at No. 1 singles, bringing her career total to 28 victories at that position—the fourth-most in program history. Allison Isaacs contributed with a three-set win, while Grignac delivered the deciding point in another three-set match on court six.
Grignac improved her singles record this spring to a team-best 9-1. The top doubles team of Polakova and Safarova has now won five consecutive matches. Boise State has also achieved ten straight wins against Mountain West opponents and two consecutive victories over Wyoming.
Looking ahead, the Broncos will return home for matches against No. 57 Grand Canyon on March 20 and No. 25 San Diego State on March 22 at the Appleton Tennis Center.
