The Boise State women’s tennis team defeated San Jose State with a 4-0 win on April 2. The match took place in San Jose, California, and marked the Broncos’ return to the win column.
This victory is significant as it extends Boise State’s strong performance in conference play and continues their success on the road. The Broncos improved their record to 14-3 overall and 6-1 in Mountain West competition.
In doubles play, Tereza Polakova and Zdena Safarova secured a win at the No. 1 spot with a score of 6-1, while Stella Beldiman and Paula Schaefer clinched the doubles point at No. 2 with a score of 6-2. In singles matches, Allison Isaacs was first to add to Boise State’s lead by defeating Tara Mihaljevic with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 result for her twelfth consecutive singles victory this season. Paula Schaefer followed up with a commanding win at No.5 singles (6-1, 6-0), and Masa Viriant sealed the match by overcoming Soledad Capilla (6-2, 6-2) at court three.
Additional notable achievements from this match include Isaacs improving her season record to 14 wins and two losses after her twelfth straight singles victory. The Broncos have now won six consecutive road matches this season.
The team’s next match will be against Fresno State in California on April 4.
