The Boise State women’s tennis team will begin its April schedule with road matches against San Jose State on April 2 and Fresno State on April 4, according to an announcement on Apr. 1.
These matches are important as the Broncos look to continue their strong season performance. The team currently holds a record of 13-3 overall and is ranked No. 58 in the latest ITA rankings, as well as No. 44 in the UTR Sports collegiate team rankings.
San Jose State enters the match with a record of 7-9 overall and is seeking its first Mountain West conference win this season. The all-time series between Boise State and San Jose State is tied at eight wins each, with the Spartans winning their last meeting in 2025 by a score of 4-2. Fresno State, meanwhile, has an overall record of 8-10 and one conference victory this year; they last faced Boise State during the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championship in which Boise State won decisively, sweeping Fresno State by a score of 4-0.
Head coach Beck Roghaar became the program’s all-time winningest coach earlier this year after securing his 182nd career victory against Gonzaga on Feb. 28; he now enters these matches with a total of 189 wins. Roghaar was named both Mountain West Coach of the Year for the third time and ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year for his work during the previous season.
Player Zdena Safarova recently earned her fifth and sixth career Mountain West Player of the Week honors following strong performances throughout March, while teammate Carla Grignac received both Player and Freshman of the Week awards after her singles win against Washington—a feat achieved by only two other players in conference history.
Last year, Boise State claimed its first conference tournament championship since 2010 by winning three consecutive matches at the Mountain West Tournament.
