Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared several statements on his official Twitter account regarding national mourning and gas prices.

On December 13, 2025, Simpson posted a message expressing condolences for fallen Americans: “Kathy and I are praying for the families of these patriots. We mourn with Americans across the nation and will never forget their brave sacrifice. God bless their loved ones.”

Two days later, on December 15, 2025, he commented on energy policy and gas prices under President Biden: “Under Biden, Idahoans and Americans across the country paid high gas prices due to his war on American energy. Now, under @POTUS, gas prices are trending lower, and Idahoans are paying less than $3 per gallon!”

Later that day, Simpson referenced Idaho’s status among states with declining fuel costs: “The Gem State is one of 38! The Trump Effect. ️”

Simpson has served as the U.S. Representative for Idaho’s 2nd District since 1999 after replacing Mike Crapo. He previously served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
