Congressman Mike Simpson, representing Idaho’s 2nd district since 1999, shared several updates on his official social media account. His posts reflect his views on national security, military service members’ homecoming, and legislative priorities.

On July 8, 2025, Congressman Simpson addressed the issue of nuclear proliferation by emphasizing the need for decisive leadership. He stated, “Taking action to prevent the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from obtaining a dangerous nuclear-armed program takes true leadership, both from the White House and our armed forces.” He referenced the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) as a measure to protect national security with what he termed “the Golden Dome.”

Later that day, Simpson expressed gratitude towards returning servicemembers from the Idaho National Guard. He welcomed more than 300 Airmen back home with appreciation for their service and sacrifices. In his words: “Welcome home to the more than 300 @IDNationalGuard Airmen! We are grateful for their safe return.” He also extended thanks to their families for their support.

In another post on July 8, Congressman Simpson highlighted legislative efforts aligned with former President Trump’s policies. He mentioned codifying these initiatives through what he called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” indicating ongoing political strategies in Congress. The tweet read: “Codifying President Trump’s agenda One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Mike Simpson has been serving in U.S. Congress since replacing Mike Crapo in 1999. Prior to this role, he served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
