Congressman Mike Simpson, who has been serving Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress since 1999, recently took to social media to express his support for what he refers to as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Simpson, a seasoned politician with roots in Burley, Idaho, shared his thoughts on this legislative initiative through a series of tweets.

On July 3, 2025, Congressman Simpson tweeted: “Let’s get the One Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump!” This tweet indicates his eagerness for the bill’s advancement and eventual presentation to former President Donald Trump.

Later that morning at Capitol Hill, he reiterated his enthusiasm by stating: “Good morning from Capitol Hill. It’s a beautiful day to pass the ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.” He outlined the bill’s key objectives: securing borders, making Trump tax cuts permanent, promoting energy dominance, strengthening military capabilities, and eliminating wasteful practices.

In another tweet posted on July 3rd at noon, Simpson addressed claims made by Hakeem Jeffries regarding Medicaid. He stated: “Marking this as a checkpoint for 6 months from now.” Simpson expressed skepticism about Jeffries’ assertions that Americans would lose Medicaid under the new legislation. He conveyed confidence that these claims are unfounded and emphasized public awareness of their inaccuracies.

Mike Simpson has represented Idaho’s 2nd District since succeeding Mike Crapo in 1999. Prior to his congressional tenure, he served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 until his congressional election. Born in Burley and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson is an alumnus of Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 1972.
