Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing election security and celebrating athletic achievement.
On February 7, 2026, Simpson questioned the controversy surrounding efforts to secure elections by stating, “What’s so controversial about securing U.S. elections? The SAVE Act is common sense. ”
Continuing his focus on election integrity, Simpson wrote on February 9, 2026: “Another common sense 80/20 issue. I fully support requiring photo ID to vote. Americans want safe and secure elections!”
In addition to political commentary, Simpson also celebrated an Idaho athlete’s success at an international event. On February 9, 2026, he tweeted: “Team USA’s first gold!!! America is so proud of Idaho native Breezy Johnson ”
Simpson has served as the representative for Idaho’s 2nd congressional district since replacing Mike Crapo in 1999. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
