Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on December 17, 2025, addressing health care policy and agricultural issues.
In a post made at 18:43 UTC, Simpson criticized the Affordable Care Act, writing, “The problems Republicans warned about the Unaffordable Care Act more than ten years ago are now happening:
Increased fraud
Inflated costs
Reduced private coverage
Fewer options for Americans
… all while health insurers collect big checks from Washington. Shameful.”
Later that day at 21:57 UTC, Simpson highlighted his engagement with local agriculture leaders. He stated, “I had a great meeting with Idaho Farm Bureau’s new president, Matt Dorsey.
Idahoans understand the vital role agriculture plays in our communities. I look forward to continuing to work with Matt and @IDFarmBureau and fighting for policies that cut regulations, protect Idaho’s”
At 23:31 UTC on the same day, Simpson addressed legislative efforts aimed at health care reform. He wrote, “The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act provides much-needed reform to lower health care costs for all Americans, not just those benefiting from the Biden COVID bonuses. This bill is a step in the right direction to fix our broken health care system.”
Mike Simpson has served as Idaho’s 2nd District representative since 1999 after succeeding Mike Crapo. Before his tenure in Congress, he was a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
