Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on his official social media account addressing national border security, tax relief for working families, and advances in forensic technology.
On December 18, 2025, Simpson commented on U.S. border policy by stating, “This is true. America had an unprecedented border crisis under Biden. Look at the numbers. Thanks to President Trump’s common sense policies, we now have the most secure border in American history.”
Shortly after, he highlighted recent legislative action on tax relief: “The Working Families Tax Cuts may have been the most important vote I’ve cast since coming to Congress – delivering real relief for Idahoans and Americans nationwide. The largest tax cut for middle-and working-class families in American history No Tax on Tips, No Tax on” (December 18, 2025).
Later that day, Simpson addressed advancements in law enforcement tools: “Sophisticated technologies, such as Forensic Genetic Genealogy, offer new DNA testing methods to solve cold cases and support law enforcement investigations. This kind of genetic genealogy identified the monster charged in the University of Idaho murders. I appreciated the” (December 18, 2025).
Simpson has served Idaho’s 2nd District in Congress since 1999 after replacing Mike Crapo and previously served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls at age 72, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
