Congressman Mike Simpson, representing Idaho’s 2nd district since 1999, has recently shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. These statements reflect his stance on women’s sports, the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) crisis, and a tribute to a fellow congressperson.

On November 18, 2024, Congressman Simpson expressed support for the Boise State women’s volleyball team. He criticized the Mountain West Conference for not prohibiting biological males from competing in women’s sports. According to Simpson, this creates “an unfair and unsafe environment for its female athletes.” “I applaud the Boise State women’s volleyball team for standing up for women’s sports.”

The following day, November 19, 2024, he announced an upcoming hearing regarding the ongoing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis. As part of his role in the Interior & Environment Committee at House Appropriations GOP, he emphasized the need for urgent action on this issue. He stated: “Tomorrow, I’m holding an Interior & Environment @HouseAppropsGOP hearing on the ongoing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis.”

Later that same day, Congressman Simpson attended a portrait unveiling ceremony for Representative Kay Granger. In his tweet about the event, he praised Granger as a “trailblazer,” “mentor,” and “leader” who had served as Chairwoman of House Appropriations GOP. He conveyed best wishes to her as she transitions out of Congress: “I was pleased to attend the portrait unveiling for my dear friend and esteemed colleague.”
