Congressman Mike Simpson, who represents Idaho’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight issues ranging from support for the arts to American agriculture and local farming.
On August 16, 2025, Simpson acknowledged the First Lady’s involvement with a national cultural institution: “.@FLOTUS serves as the Honorary Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Kennedy Center. I’m proud to honor her support and commitment in promoting the arts and humanities!”
Two days later, on August 18, he expressed gratitude for actions taken by Secretary Rollins concerning agricultural policy: “This decision will protect American agriculture, livestock, and our food supply. Thank you,@SecRollins, for your decisive leadership on this issue. Supporting American farmers and ranchers is another promise made, promise kept by this administration!”
On August 19, Simpson recognized National Potato Day with a nod to Idaho’s agricultural reputation: “It’s National Potato Day! The world knows that the best potatoes come from the Gem State — thanks to our incredible farmers! How do you like your potatoes?”
Simpson has served in Congress since 1999 after replacing Mike Crapo. He previously held office in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1984 to 1998. Born in Burley, Idaho in 1950 and currently residing in Idaho Falls, Simpson graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972.
